On a humourous line, the only spirits I knew of in Stinson came out of bottles.
However there was lots of moaning & groaning on Stinson beach front when
darkness descended but they were not ghostly noises-------------------

I am a believer, in EDINBURGH underground (the old Edinburgh) I experienced
spirits there. My earlier comments were just to lighten things.
Being a Tai CHI EXPERT I feel these things---------------.

Frank, feel free to tell us your experience in the Edinburgh Vaults, I'd love to get there one day.

I dont believe in spookies,But I did get a fright one night. It was years ago when my father was the hied yin up at Ardrossan cemetery. We lived in the big house.I was at sea, and home on leave. My father told me to be in by mid-night or the door would be closed.I came in about 2 in the morning ,door was locked ,and when I through some wee stones up at the window my father would not open the door. There was a greenhouse at the back of the house so I went in there to sleep but it was to warm,so I took an old coat off the back of the door and headed for the shelter that was down at the wall near the dam.I was just nodding off when I heard the gate up at the house creeking.I was only 16 and my imagination was running wild.I could make out the shape of someone heading for the shelter and I was getting a wee bit frightened.I opened the shelter door ,waited till the person or thing was about 20 feet away, then I let out the loudest roar I could manage. The thing jumped in the air with fright and ran back the way he had come.I was unable to sleep at all that night.I would love to know who that person was, probably just some guy talking a shortcut through the cemetery and over the wall to get to Kirkhall Dr.or some where.

Hi Sam,
Wouldn't have been easy to get to Kirkhall Drive in the dark from there, specially when at that time the Parkhouse dam was between there and the cemetery.

This probably doesn't align with your experience. But it was back around that time circa 1959 that my pal James McNamara from nearby Stanley Road told me he spent a night in Ardrossan cemetery. He had fallen out with his then girl friend Nancy Guiney from Links Road? in Saltcoats. I think he had a wee bit too much to drink that night and was in the dumps. But that said he never mentioned about getting a scare there. They eventually married.

My grandfather used to tell the tale of how he was once mistaken for a ghost. As a young man living in rural Hampshire, he was walking home one night through the lanes from a fancy dress party at another village, still in his costume as an old-time Cavalier.

A passer-by who came upon him in the dark took one look at him and turned tail and fled, obviously convinced he was the genuine article....and soon a new " ghost story " was going the local rounds, much to the amusement of the partygoers !

Edinburgh below the present street level is a weird world.Went there last year
on guided ghost walk and you experience total darkness when the guide turns
his torch off in various areas.Weird experience----total darkness!!!
i found my feet felt extremely cold, left hand cold , right hand red hot.
Felt a little breeze in two areas although no one commented about their
experiences. I spoke to the guide & he said a few people who studied Yoga
or Tai Chi had the same experiences as I told.!!Worth doing the ghost walk.
Beware of "The Dark", it can be Scary---------------

Some years back Sarah and her pal (M) booked a " medium" for a private sitting. It was a small group, poss 7, and the venue was her pal M's house, the couple that we socialise with. The event was late December, the house was decorated with Christmas cards, the curtains and blinds closed to keep out the winter chill.
When the " medium" arrived at the door, M was told " it's someones birthday" she asked, how do you know that, the reply was, they are singing happy birthday. It just so happens that it was M's husbands birthday ( my pal). When I heard this I thought, was there a gap in the curtains, was it enough to distinguish the difference between Christmas cards and birthday cards. When Sarah had her private sitting she was advised to take notes, when she returned home that night with the notes and messages it spooked the s--t out of me.

Bob Bryden, One place that's always reputed to have been haunted is" Wallace's Larder", the subterranean bit of Ardrossan Castle, which we always called "the dungeon when we were schoolkids. You probably know it took it's nickname from the story about William Wallace apparently throwing the bodies of slaughtered Englishmen down there when he retook the castle. I would not mind a visit (not on my own, of course!), but it's been a no-go area for as long as I can remember and I'm almost 70. Last I heard it was so full of discarded beer cans, etc that access to the lower area of it would have required a major clean-up operation. I live in hope that the promised action by this new "friends2 group will address the problem. If the "spookies" are still going maybe they can provide answérs the easy way? PS have you ever wondered why clairvoyants live in houses with doorbells?? Cheer, A.B.
