I see amongst my notes for the 'THIS DAY IN HISTORY' topic, the following article relative to Mr. Robert Brown.

30 SEPTEMBER 1910
DEATH OF AN ARDROSSAN CITIZEN
The death has occurred at Ardrossan of Mr Robert Brown, who was the first chairman of Ardrossan Parish Council and had been for many years previously a member of the old Parochial Board. A gardener to trade, Mr Brown was a man of wide reading and well-cultivated intellect. His knowledge of literature was extensive. He was one of the founders of the local Burns Club. He was 79 years of age, and had been retired for several years.
