Alternative haggis dishes

Post by bonzo »

I have tried haggis pakora, haggis nachos and haggis lasagne. Anyone got any different uses for our national dish?

Kandy bar sells haggis pies.
Highland chicken is breast of chicken stuffed with haggis
Haggis served with steak or steak pie is quite nice.

Also a Balmoral burger which is a burger with haggis cheddar and bacon delicious but I don't think you get a low calorie option :D

This sounds a bit weird, but....

A cafe near my office occasionally does a “special”, which is a large slice of tomato, roasted in the oven with lots of Worcestershire sauce. Served in a roll with a slice of haggis. (or sometimes with black pudding)

It’s rather nice...

Never could quite get a taste for haggis. At local Highland games there'd be a wee taste available...free, and wi' a wee scotch accompaniment, much needed! I used to make 'fake haggis' for special Scottish days, daughter a veggie, so it was a lot of oatmeal, meat sub and stuff..it was surprisingly good!
