Thanks PT, don't specifically remember the games but may well nave been Fr there Vics had a very good team then.
Frank Quinn went to Celtic but only lasted a season there before moving to Dundee United where he was their top scorer for five seasons .

Thanks for that PT I never saw that before, I know he was in Colchester for a few years I use to carry around
his photo on one of these little cards that boys collect, but last time I saw Charlie he took it back he did not have one.
Charlie turned 80 last month and keeping well as can be expected.. Lovely Big Brother...

Hi Sarah, even though he is named in this photo I wouldn't have picked him out . I remember the black curly hair . When he left Winton Tommy Morgan moved from left half to centre half .

Mike/Sarah,

Could he be in one of these photographs then, maybe the third one down?

Here is photo of Winton Rovers around 1949 . I started following them thext year so can't recall everybody , but here goes .
BACK ROW :-Sam Pllu , ?,?, Tommy Morgan , Puggy Muir and ?
FRONT ROW :- Lawrie , Jackie Thomson , John Reid , Neilly Hawthorne and Willie Kearney .
Any corrections would be welcomed.
Mike
I came across the photo that Mike was referring to in the Ardrossan and Saltcoats Herald of 2 September 1949. The caption gives the name of everyone in the photo and shows that Mike's recollection was very close.

mike mccann wrote: Tue Aug 10, 2010 11:38 am Hi Sam, , here is what I can remember .

the players wearing the plain shirts are the first team , so starting at the back here they are left to right :-

Sam Pllu , ( later went to Winton Rovers ) , McGeachie and Ross .

Next row:- O'Rourke (hugh} , Frank Quinn , " Seagull" McKenna , Harry Leckie and Tommy Cairns .

Front row :- Joe Kirk ( captain ) , Gill and Stewart .

The person beside Sam Pllu is " Sparrow " Alexander , and beside Ross is Willie Walton .

Beside Joe Kirk is Eddie Quinn .

Don't recognise the other players . I suppose some of the civvies would be commitee members etc .

Re nicknames , in the fifties , Winton had a great wee centre forward called McEwan and of course his nickname was " Screwtap " !

I have a pic of Winton in the ealrly fifties which I Will dig out an post .
