Just as today, back in the seventies the North Ayrshire Museum hosted exhibitions from time to time, and this picture shows some of the visitors to one that was held in October 1971.
The exhibition in question was entitled " Musical Notes and Vibrations " and was on a tour of the country from the Science Museum in London; it was made up of various experiments and working models so that the public could demonstrate for themselves the principles involved.
It was particularly aimed at those studying exam-level Physics, and we made a school trip to see it; being fourth years we were trusted to take ourselves on what I remember as a torrentially wet day ( though the boys still couldn't resist cavorting on the children's play equipment at the Glebe on the way back ... ). But the general public was also very welcome , and here we have a younger crowd enjoying pushing all the buttons.
