Is that the Caley Court nursing home at Moorpark rd. West you're referring to Bill?

She wasn't old and lived in one of the cottage flats opposite the white wife.

I get you now Bill, a wee misunderstanding there, and yes of course she wasn't particularly old.

all after my time I think. The only building there was old St. John's school, the priest's house next door. Gypsies would camp in the summer back of the school, otherwise nothing between the school and the road but the sandyhills.. I know a senior centre was built up around the cross. I miss the old Stevenston :(

Apologies for straying off topic......

The school must've closed in June 1973, as the replacement in Morrison Avenue opened in August of that year.

For a while it became a 2nd hand furniture storage building (Nimmo's). It was demolished, I'm guessing, early eighties, and on the site, there is now a little group of houses. The old school wall I sat on occasionally, if Bunty wasn't in the vicinity, is still at the back of these houses.

The priest's house is still there, occupied by a retired couple who had the well known Pop's shop at the bottom of Hayocks Road.

There is now a nine hole golf course where the horrific dump was located. Moorpark Road West continues towards Saltcoats. This is the road which leads to Auchenharvie Golf Club, and on the way there to the left, is another row of perhaps a dozen newish houses.

Moorpark Road West, I'd say, for the most part, remains unchanged. The older houses are still there.

The Nursing Home, called Caley Court, is on the levelled railway embankment, beside where the old railway bridge was. I don't recall anything being on this site anyway, although many years ago, way before my time, I'm reliably informed, this was where Moorpark Station was situated.

I think I'm right in saying there are three Nursing Homes in the town now.

Far right I believe is John Norwood.
I think this particular John Norwood, until certainly his mid-teenage years, lived in Dalry Road, Ardrossan, and went to Winton/Eglinton Schools, and then left to live in Stevenston.
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.
