Moving on now from church events to sports groups, and hopefully these will occasion a little more interest than the former did.
Evidently the ICI factory league teams held an annual dinner-dance at the end of every season, and combined with it a little awards ceremony , handing out trophies for leading player and the like. I have pictures from two of these , and this first one is from June 1973.

Would you look at all them suits and ties and polished shoes and tidy haircuts.
I wish the current generation would take a leaf out of this thread.
A very nostalgic JD.

Should know more names but the only ones I can come up with at the moment are .. Bobby Beattie, who's wearing a white tie in the middle of the front row and Robert White (sadly now deceased) who's second from the right at the front and is wearing a grey suit.

It's a wild guess but the chap on the extreme left reminds me of Donald McCrindle who lived in Dalry Road, Ardrossan. He was a good goalkeeper in his time and may have worked in Ardeer, I can't remember. I think his father did and Donald may have followed him there.
Nothing is ever really lost to us as long as we remember it.
