Stevenson Quarry. ?

Post by marieesther »

My ancestor William McKenna lived in Stevenson in 1857 and is described as a quarryman. Was there a Quarry nearby and do records exist. ?

The quarry, as I knew it was 'down the 'rec'.

Morag is right. It's down off Moorpark Road East. We had a lovely evening stroll around there with Iain during our reunion in 2014. Here's the notice put out by Meg:
Tuesday 15th July
Tour of the Stevenston quarry led by our fantastic wildlife photographer Iain, ending the evening at the Champion Shell. People should bring sensible footwear and cover their legs - there may be the odd nettle/thistle on the route around. No need for welly boots - just don’t wear flip-flops or high heels!

Meet at the car park at the end of Moorpark Road East, KA20 3HP at 6 o'clock.
