In-party fighting, John. The Liberals seem to be doing the same thing that the "Labor" party did when last in government here - factions at war.

I suppose I could have guessed that. Politicians and politics !!
Is it likely to cause any serious longer term problems?

John, I believe the Australian Labor Party, after similar problems, put a rule in place to stop the overthrow of a party leader by MPs unless a majority of 50% voted for it to happen. Yes, the Australian Liberals as I see it are aligned with the UK Tories.

Margb, Hope you got enough of that much needed rain up there in Queensland. I know it pelted down in the wee small hours on Saturday morning before we left to head home - it was a real tropical down-pouring of the wet stuff and woke me up.

In Kingaroy we got about 13mm all up. Grateful for every wee drop we get. It was patchy, somewhere south of Roma got over an inch (25mm+). Hopefully there will be some follow up rain soon. It was good and steady. Its so tough for farmers and graziers both in Qld and NSW.Coming from the three towns where rain is abundant it can be hard to imagine that there are those who havent had a decent fall of rain for over 6 years.
This will also give fire fighters a needed break as
well. We've also had over 9 fires locally in the last week or so. Some started deliberately.

Well my daughter and husband have left tonight for the UK. They intend to stay for up to two years. A grand and exciting adventure for them.

Spring has sprung - lovely to be awakened by the Blackbirds in the morning. Must record them and post.

Autumn has sprung here. Also a lovely time of the year, though I do prefer Spring.
Anybody remember Keats' Ode to Autumn? One of my favourites.
'Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness.' God, I wish I could write like that.

Being a fellow Scot, this excellent performance by Sinead and John Kerr from a few years back had the hair's on the back of my neck standing up.
