Been absolutely gorgeous weather in the three towns over the last few days. Never seen anything like it for February. Me & the Mrs seemed to walk for miles in the glorious sunshine yesterday ( no jacket required!). And to think only twelve months ago we had one of our worst winters in many a long yr, with snow lasting into April.

Over the last week or so we've had the smell of bushfires and smoke haze - we can't see Melbourne across Port Phillip Bay from here. It's no real problem for us, but sadly in the countryside a lot of homes have been lost owing to bushfires started by lightning strikes and dry conditions.

At the end of the news on morning TV here in Oz the announcer told us FB was having problems. With a straight face she went on to say don't ring 000. That's our emergency number here. //funny

Just read through his personal recollections again Hughie - what a rich childhood he had. Sadly missed member of our 3ts family.

What does this tell us. I tried to get rid of a greasy stain on my outside stone kitchen balcony. I gave up after 3 days of pouring kettles of boiling water on to it as there was no difference. I remembered that on other occasions after a shower of rain or two they always disappeared. Low and behold, after yesterdays heavy shower of rain the mark is almost gone. What is in our environment at all? :(
