Johnson's Bridge

Post by stivis »

The great leader wants a bridge to Ireland, the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar says OK, You build it(and pay for it)
Now given the route that has been suggested (which will never happen)
Why not build it with a bend, and go Dublin ,NI, Campbeltown, Arran and on to the A74, drop off points as appropriate

PS the toll is not high

Off topic, but anyway.
This guy does something so incredibly philanthropic that God grants him a wish - anything he wants.
The guy asks for a bridge from Europe to America, because he has a favourite auntie there, and he hates flying but likes to drive.
God chews his lip a bit and says, 'that's a bit tough. would you like to think of something else?'
The guy thinks a bit and says, 'I'd like to understand my wife.'
God immediately says, 'how many lanes would you like?'

JD. Sorry girls, - just kidding.

The original expectation for a ticket to cross the Skye Bridge was 40p (around half a Euro) in actual fact the fare ended up being 11.40 pounds (14.5 Euro).

Initially it was funded by Private Finance Initiative (a favourite of Gordon Broon very flawed idea especially when the rates benefits only one side) Coupled with another company collecting the toll, that's where the price rocketed from estimation to actual, If memory is correct the islander didn't get any concession, but did with CalMac,
There is a film about the toll on I think, BBC iPlayer with campaigner Robbie the Pict ..........Well worth a watch

The toll on the New Orleans bridge is either $2 or $3

Campbell Martin has a couple of films on PFI ,One on NAC in general and the second on St.Ardrews Academy
The Only Game In Town Part 1 and eh what was it? oh ........The Only Game In Town Part 2
