The old Station bar in stevenston which was still open till recently, only on selected days though, has been taken over by a new proprietor seemingly. New signage up & heard on the grapevine it’s the owners of the pub in green st that are the new owners. Also meant to be be selling hot food, with incorporating a Chinese takeaway!
Good luck to them anyway as the old pub seemed a bit run down in recent yrs. When you think back, down the ‘bottom end’ there was the ‘Store’ which I particularly liked, now sadly long gone
(houses built on old site), the ‘Trust’ now a convenience store & chippy, and not forgetting the
‘Greystones’ which me & the missus frequented on Sunday nights for the disco back in the day.
On the greystones site is a few houses as well.

Re: Station Bar getting a revamp
Hopefully things work out ok for the new owners as it's such an iconic building.
I grew up mainly in the top end of Stevenston but knew of the wee Store, the Station bar and the Trust bar too - as a wean living in Portland Place I remember when the Trust was called the Ayrshire Houses of Refreshment - also the Greystones hotel/pub, another legendary local watering hole where men and women alike socialised.

I'm told it's been done up and has now re-opened, there was a Karaoke sing song in there on Saturday night.

Re: Station Bar getting a revamp
I remember one Saturday afternoon having a few pints with the wife's side of the family who were regulars there. There was a betting shop across the road and I've often thought it was a wonder no one was killed rushing across the road to put on those last minute bets.
Re: Station Bar getting a revamp
Was there a bank there as or did the bank turn onto a bookies? Can't remember now.

Re: Station Bar getting a revamp
There was definitely a bank that sat virtually across the road from the Station Bar at one point, bonzo, think it may have been a branch of the Royal Bank of Scotland.
When it closed it might well have become the Bookies.

Cheers Michael, I bet a few quid crossed the road from the bank to the pub over the years.
