At the Old Fruit market in Glasgow to see Colin Hay. Wonder if he'll be on the last train to Saltcoats to stay with his relatives

It’ll be a great gig.

My friend Eva interviewed Colin today at lunchtime on Celtic Music Radio, on her “Coffee with a Danish” show. They spent an hour playing music and blethering....

and they even had a chance to meet Danny Kyle!

It was a really good evening Bonzo - he was very funny - and played his list on his own without backing - so I felt it was a very intimate set, although the Old Fruit Market is quite big. He came across as a bit of a troubled soul, he talked about his parents who are now no longer with us - it caused me to tear up a couple of times, being an orphan myself, and made everyone identify how moving overseas can be traumatic for a young teenager such as he was. His music was great, and he hasn't lost any of the original appeal - even down to "Are you looking at me" and the well trodden "Land down under" which was written when he was only 16 before MAW. He also filled in lots of background on some of the inspirations for some of his other hits such as "Water over you". I would go back and see him.

Will be listening to this tomorrow Bruce, thanks for the heads up. He covered most of the numbers mentioned here, and I LOVE Emelda May. Jake Thackeray is a real throwback to my teens on That's Life and Barenaked Ladies, if I remember rightly, wrote the theme tune to Big Bang Theory.

Looking forward to this.

I should also add he was at Ardrossan Academy at the same time I was. He told a funny story about the maroon coloured blazers chasing him because he was a blue blazer. Everyone from the 3ts at that time could relate to this.
