BLUEBIRD MAKES HER DEBUT
SUCCESS OF INITIAL TRIAL
EARLY MORNING RUN ON LOCH LOMOND

Saturday at Luss, Loch Lomond, the scene of Sir Malcolm Campbell’s proposed attempt to win back for Britain the world’s speed record on water, was a day of success, thrill, and – for those who visited Loch Lomondside in the afternoon, disappointment.

Early in the morning Sir Malcolm’s BLUEBIRD went into action for the first time. For seven minutes she roared over Rossdhu Bay between the mainland and the island of Inchailloch in the direction of Balmaha. Twice she covered the course estimated at about two miles, presenting an impressive sight as she sped across the dark waters of the loch.

Hi PT,
It's stretching it a wee bit claiming Loch Lomond is close to the three toons.
Never mind, it's an interesting piece of news. 8)

JD,

It's all in the mind  . If I had mentioned Ballantrae it's likely you would have accepted that without question and yet the Luss Visitor Centre (which is well up Loch Lomond) is 6 miles closer to 1 Main Street, Stevenston, than 1 Main Street, Ballantrae, as per the AA Route Planner.

And anyway, it's ma ba'.

Besides the crew there were 15 passengers, all cattle dealers, who were going to Montreal to purchase cattle there. The passengers were all taken off by a tug and taken to Greenock……….Sixteen carpenters and six engineers with three 12-inch pumps left Ardrossan last night.
