Re: Arran live web cams
Hughie,
I was in Brodick recently and checked these cameras out, and there was not the slightest trace of spiders' webs. The lenses are not the size of an old half-crown and the casing not much bigger - a spiders couldn't live in them. When you looked into the lenses however, they each have silver/dimpled backgrounds and I suspect the supposed webs are simply reflections of light.
If you look at the "Pier View' in daylight you can actually see the 'Goatfell' camera and appreciate just how small it is.
That's my theory anyway .

Re: Arran live web cams
Penny, I thought Chris found it to be a spider's web, and mentioned it in another topic I searched for. Though I'm unsure if this latest one is a spiders web.
Here's what Chris wrote: http://www.threetowners.net/forum/viewt ... 79#p139079

Hughie,
I remember fine what Chris said previously, and think his source were the good folk of Arran. That's why I went to check it out for myself.
I don't believe the folk along the banks of Loch Ness either

Re: Arran live web cams
Here's a pic I took in early June. The webcams are the white dots at either end of the 'Castle Bay Studios' sign.
Although now a Jewellers shop who buy and sell gold/silver etc, it was previously the local Estate Agents. The wee shop next door, Belle's Boutique, is also relatively new. It was formerly the premises of the Arran-Asia Trading Company who I believe are still doing business online. I used to have a wee chuckle to myself every time I passed there as above the shop was ... "Bangkok - Brodick - Delhi - Kathmandu"

Just had a wee look at the webcams footage there. Looks like it's going to be a scorcher of a day over in Arran.
Much the same here in the threetowns as well.

From last March.
These folk at the bus stop in Shore rd. Brodick didn't get much of a view of Goat Fell, but they were probably too busy dreaming about a Pot of Gold to be that bothered about it.

Re: Arran live web cams
Last week 29 volonteers from Ardrossans BPO Collections climbed Goatfell in the pouring rain to raise money for the Ayrshire Hospice, in memory of a colleague who died in April of this year. A sum of 1,850 pounds was raised by sponsors.
