Made Stovies in the slow cooker overnight using much the same recipe as in the video - except I used square sausage and also added some diced turnip.

Hopefully things work out ok for the new owners as it's such an iconic building. I grew up mainly in the top end of Stevenston but knew of the wee Store, the Station bar and the Trust bar too - as a wean living in Portland Place I remember when the Trust was called the Ayrshire Houses of Refreshment...

Yes Michael, I believe it was the old name for St Peter's school from the 1930s to the 1950s. Those pies certainly look the part Hughie - and beef is the most popular filling for Scotch pies nowadays, although there's often some mutton/lamb content as well. They maybe just needed a wee bit more water added to the mix to help prevent the dryness but still good to see them on offer on a cruise...

Just a general query here, but where exactly in Ardrossan was this school located and would it have had any connection to St. Peter's Secondary school in South Crescent Rd which was demolished a number of years ago ?
