Re: Opinion - Australia's honour system

"Diversion" - The Chinese have over produced, steel etc. The Australian economy will suffer as less iron and coal will be required. They have recently discovered huge deposits of oil in central Australia and off the coast of South Australia, which also has a host of other useful minerals ...

Re: Opinion - Australia's honour system

Re: Fuel prices

Prices here are about the same for diesel and petrol, about 3:70 -80 per gallon..I'm too tired to work out the per litre rate! I think it's probably a bargain but drivers here complain. Think diesel used to be higher than petrol. It works out to a whole 60 pence a litre roughly. Wow - no wonder the...

Re: Fuel prices

Makes you want to immigrate to the USA! Naw even with that incentive too many other negatives! BTW Diesel is dearer than petrol here in Oz. What you gain is in economy usually. On the negative side we are all being kept in the dark on the toxic effects of carcinogenic diesel fumes, which don'...

Re: The ... What are you doing or thinking right now - Topic

Carnival of course comes from the Latin for meat carni and Levare to lift - meaning to take away. So since eating meat was forbidden for the entire period of Lent a big feast was held to gorge yourself with meat before you had to go without. The Roman State religion was very pragmatic and religious ...

Re: Initiations

Well some initiations could be worse than that. Aircraft factory my brother was apprenticed to near Glasgow just before we left, had some strange practices involving young men, all initiated by groups of women off the factory floor. Can't go into it here. Wee Ali

Told the girls to take a few dollars with them on their morning walk, as they might want to donate to the charity that cooks up pancakes today in the main street - it's Shrove Tuesday. Tips for making pancakes :puter That explains it - the heiress got me to buy some cre...
