Re: First floodlight football match in Scotland

Surely the first floodlit matches must have been under the street lights in most Scottish towns and cities. Usually about 20-a-side.

Re: Not the THREETOWNS but close

It's Millport, getting ready for the Country & Western weekend.
I remember many, many years ago when I worked at Hunterston, travelling to work that no matter the weather on the mainland looking over the water Millport seemed to have sunshine.

Re: Stey Brae

I think cardiac hill is the 16th and I have to own up to regularly moving from the 15th green to the 18th tee.

Re: new work on the prom

View from the Stevenston side, not very aesthetic. I would have thought a bit of pattern on the pedestrian side would have been possible, even a bit of colour.

Re: Portencross Castle

The castle is now open, however the staff are volunteers so I'm not sure about opening times. Worth a visit. No charge the couple of times I've been but there's a box for donations.

Stevenston boundary

Spotted this noticeboard this morning on the road between Stevenston and Kilwinning ( just across from the car wash). It can't be there long as I walk this road regularly and this is the first I've seen it. The relevant bit ( remembering the controversy about the naming of the new hotel site) says &...

Things that cheer and give hope.

An antidote to "things that annoy" 1.Before the holidays I attended a" Daffodil Tea" at one of my grandsons' nursery. It was great to see the toddlers enthusiasm and listen to them belting out there songs. Better, however, was seeing the joy and pride on the faces of the Mums, Da...

Re: Things that really annoy

Things that really annoy - the fact that so many people (myself included) get annoyed and that no one has started a thread "things that cheer and give hope"!

Re: Local Men In Lisbon, May 1967.

Sorry John, i don't know anyone else. My friend Jim Kennedy and I just "piggy-backed" onto a group from Saltcoats. If truth be told I'm not 100% sure if I'm holding the banner, i thought I was at the other side of Raymond. As an aside I think it cost us £32 for flight and match ticket.

Re: Local Men In Lisbon, May 1967.

You are correct, John, it is Raymond. I know because I was standing beside him. Note also the Union Jack we carried, I think it was the only one in the stadium.
