Re: North Shore, Ardrossan
When we lived at 8 Rowanside Terrace my brothers and I used to take the home made "Bogie" and go down the North shore to collect seaweed for the garden. It was quite a long trip specially as it was uphill on the way back but the bogie got lighter as we went home as the water ran out of the...

Re: Words we used - Planked
I always liked the word scunner as in "A'm fair scunnered" or "wid yon yin no gie yi the scunner". I think these auld Scots words are so descriptive but hard to explain their real meaning to non-Scots.

Re: Local Mine Watchers
Hi Meg I have sent the home guard picture to Hughie to post as I am totally incompetent computer-wise. My dad was also in a reserved occupation as he also worked at Shell Mex. Before we moved to Canada he was a foreman (of fitters and turners) and had been with them 17years after serving his time in...

Re: Local Mine Watchers
Their seems to be some misunderstanding Hughie. The photos originated with George not with me. He had sent them to me and I sent him some of my father in the Home guard (camping up the country). My father was not in the mine watchers therefore he is not in any of the pictures. Anyway just thought I'...
