I never learned what "HON" meant but when I was wee I sued to keep mmy eye out for him whenever I was down the prom but I never got the chance to claim the money.

Re: Some things I remember !
I know this probably beaches all sort of politcaly correct rules but the last post reminds me of playing a game in the 50's involving dares. for some reason I always remember having to do a dare whcih involved running down the road shouting out as loud as I could "Manuel was innocent" !!!!...

The things we didn't have !

Re: Bathing pool
Also just remembered the big demand for season tickets for the pool !
They were issued at the start of the summer and the lower your number the more prestige you had.
One of my brothers got number 5 one year I think.
I never knew anyone who got number 1 !

Re: Sunday School
I remember that you had to get dressed up in your Sunday best to go to Sunday School. I also remember my Mum giving me a shilling for the collection. I would spend sixpence on sweeties and put sixpence in the colection - she never knew ! (For those brought up post-decimalisation there were 12 pennie...

I am trying to explain to me two daughters what a "chittering bite" was !
That really brought back the memories, Milda.
I hated the pool - maybe because my brothers threw me in and I couldn't swim !

Re: Deaf and Dumb Guy
Neil I totally agree. I had been thinking the same when I started this post. People with disabilities of any kind seem to have been treated better than they are now. We didn't have all the rules or political correctness but maybe we didn't need them because maybe we treated them as human beings but ...

Deaf and Dumb Guy
Does anyone remember the deaf and dumb guy who frequented Saltcoats in the 50's and 60's ? I seem to remember he was called "The Dummy" (I know it isn't politically correct these days sorry) but that's how I remember him. He used to collect empty lemonade bottles for the deposits and if my...

Re: Shows on the Braes
I only ever went on the Waltzers once and totally regretted it ! My Auntie gave me some free passes and 3 of us felt so brave when we got on and sat down. It started ok but 2 of the guys who "rode the waltzers saw they had some victims (we were about 11) and started spinning us round and round....

I remember Fearless when I was a wee boy. I was terrified of him !
Probably without cause but you know what it is like when you 6 or 7 - rational thought just never came into it.
