Re: Is there sectarianism in the 3Ts?

Richard, I am sorry you took my comments to heart. You obviously hold extremely strong views regarding the Catholic Church and its teachings and you are perfectly entitled to do so. The difficulty is that people can misinterpret feelings against an institution as also being directed towards members ...

Re: Is there sectarianism in the 3Ts?

Richard, Disappointed to read your post. Despite your comments about your own beliefs you seem to single out "Catholics" for special mention - not sure why. Also, you use the word "detest" in reference to the Catholic religion - a very emotive expression which will do little to h...

Re: Ardrossan Academy Primary building

I had been willing to forgo birthday and christmas presents for 10 ye...

Re: Dykes Mains Farm

Margh,
I think someone lives in it but don't know who.
I left Saltcoats over 40 years ago and havent been back in years.
The Hogarth family used to own it but I don't know what happened after they sold all the land.

Re: Dykes Mains Farm

Yes Dykesmains farm was at the top of Dykesmains Road.
The houses were built on farm land in the mid 1950's.
The farm was owned by the Hogarth family and the land was eventually all sold for housing and a primary school.

Re: Thankfull !

Thanks Morag. It is part of the Scottish make-ip I think. We would rather be criticising than praising. I remember the worst thing you could be accused of when you were young was "showing off" - maybe thats why English children tend to be so much more self-confident than Scottish ones. We ...

Thankfull !

Not sure who I am thanking here but here goes ! I was brought up in a working class household in the 3 Towns and never went to University. Managed my 'O' Levels and got an apprenticeship but always regretted never having gone to University. Many years later managed to get a BSc at the Open Universit...

Re: Memories of " The three day week".

I remember this clearly.
We worked 3 days on = 12 hour days and then had 4 days off !
IT was great - I loved the extra time off and we even negotiated overtime for the 4 hours extra each day !
So we worked 36 hours and in return got paid for 42 and still had a 4 day weekend !!!!
