Re: Coronavirus pandemic
What does it say about a prime minister who so badly needs an adviser to tell him what to do that he totally ignores public opinion, overlooks clear breaches of the lockdown rules and risks confusing the English as to what they can and cannot do? Cumming clearly won't resign so they should adopt his...

Dare I Ask?
Dare I ask how you intend to vote on Thursday or how you see things going in the three towns? Personally I am a paid up member of the SNP so I am hoping we get back the seat here in Banff & Buchan that was taken from us the last time.

Re: Larboard
I had heard the term larboard although I could not have said which side of the ship it referred to. I may have come across it in 'Hornblower' or the novel about whaling featuring the big tattooed guy but I can't remember the title. Your suggestion certainly sounds sensible.

Re: Do you remember
I think your theory is correct. I have just looked at a map and Auchenshuggle is East of St Enoch, whereas the University is West.

Re: Do you remember
Initially it was a steam train that arrived at South Beach at one minute to eight precisely. I thought it stopped again at Saltcoats and then on to Gilmour Street and St Enoch where it arrived at 10 to 9. If you were quick and lucky you could then jump on a Tram to Auchinshuggle?, get off at Kelvin ...

Do you remember
Do you remember 'the minute to eight'? Did you use it? Is it still available?

Re: Sad News - Morag
What awful news. Like many here, I never met Morag face to face but she certainly revealed herself to us all via her many posts. She was a real character and always had something to say. My condolences to her family here and in USA. Hughie, I assume you will be in touch with her family and will let ...

Oh dear, John has a mountain to climb - 12/5 to Trump. We can only hope that Trump goes off the boil but if he keeps up the form of the last session yesterday, I can't see John beating him.

Re: saltcoats doctors
Doctor Forsyth was my doctor when I was young. He was in practice in 1951 when I was born but I was delivered by his partner, Dr Stewart. Soon after, about 1953 or 1954, Dr Stewart either died or retired, and his new partner was Dr McIntosh. His surgery was in Ardrossan Road, about the third house ...

Re: Ardrossan South beach Station Scottish Railtour visit 22/6/62
Further down from the train there was a wooden foot crossing. That is, the wood was inserted between the rails. It was always a good idea to check if anything was coming before using it!
Re: Snooker
I played a lot at Benaldies in the late 50's early 60's. We met there after the pictures on a Saturday and on a Sunday evening. As Hughie says you got to it from an alley down the side of the cafe then up the stairs where there were 3 tables. There was an internal stair down to another 3 tables. Ups...
