The Chusan monument was erected in Ardrossan Cemetery and is still in fairly good condition. The inscription, now partly-eroded, is 'In memory of George C Johnson, Master and William Miller, Second Mate and the crew of the steamship Chusan who were drowned off the Harbour off Ardrossan on 21 October...

The map below shows the site of the grounding on the Crinan Rock. There is no breakwater as it was not built until the early 1890s.
