Unfortunately not, George. Dr. Marshall died on the 30th November, 1884, and his obituary in the Glasgow Herald intimated that he was a native of Methwick in Aberdeenshire. The Chusan monument was erected in Ardrossan Cemetery and is still in fairly good condition. The inscription, now partly-eroded, is 'In memory of George C Johnson, Master and William Miller, Second Mate and the crew of the steamship Chusan who were drowned off the Harbour off Ardrossan on 21 October...

The map below shows the site of the grounding on the Crinan Rock. There is no breakwater as it was not built until the early 1890s.

I think this might be my grandfather's brother. I don't remember him as a footballer but my brother (Ian) remembers he played for Winton Rovers and at one time he had one of his medals but he does not known where it is now nor what it said on it.
