Both right. Australian oxford dictionary says barrack (v) to shout or jeer (at). Barrack for: support, encourage (team etc). Barracker (n). margb

That's right. The gate for the nursery is in mcgilvary ave and takes up a whole block. When it was built there were no houses there. just thought they had dropped the 'c'. However I've been digging a little and found that along with the ruined kerelaw castle there were mansions hayocks, hillerhurst and kerelaw ordnance gazzetted in the stevenston historical perspective in the 19th century. my apologies. margb

Always thought that hayocks rd was called that cos of the way hay was stacked in wee mounds in the fields. Margb

Florence Martindale (nee Weston) was my great aunt. She was the last of that generation. The Westons lived in Arthurlie place. The house is no longer there as it was burnt down a few yrs after my great grandmother passed. Thank you Tom for posting the weekly notices. I know she will be sadly missed....
