Sorry I meant to add, I don't know what that tall pole is at the top of Glasgow street, but the one on the left near the boy is one of the old Gas street lamps, I remember when the man used to go round the streets with a long pole and light up all the lamps.

I always thought that the canal streets mentioned in Saltcoats and Stevenston were named after the canal from the old auchenharvie Coal fields, and separate from the proposed canal to Glasgow. I think Glasgow street being wide and straight was simply very good planning with an eye to the future when...

Ian is Molly's husband Peters younger brother, so in a round about way he is related to me, although I never knew Ian. when Molly and Peter got together I was already in Australia.

Yes, that is my Sister she married Pater Butchard from Stevenston and immigrated to Australia in 1962, They are now retiered and live in Echuca with all there rather big family.
