Re: " A Saunter roon Stinstin"

Workmen's hut was one of the possibles I had and is why I also thought the timing related to completion of the pool. Was the footbridge upgrading done around the early 60's? Another question is re the building of the big shelter overlooking the swings - was this part of a general upgrade of the play...

Re: " A Saunter roon Stinstin"

It would be early 60's and something makes me think it was not too long after it was opened.

Re: " A Saunter roon Stinstin"

Yes Little Plum, family pic in Sunday finest.

Wellparkno9, I don't think it was car park or putting green which would have been behind the camera. This hut seems to be near the path that led to the beach and the low footbridge over the burn.

Re: " A Saunter roon Stinstin"

Wondered if anyone remembers when the fountain in the paddling pool was missing a part as in this picture.

Can anyone tell me what the grey hut/building was?

Re: Air Raid Shelters

Remembered the air raid shelters in Morris Moodie Avenue built in brick with flat concrete roof. This one was in the gardens of 10/12 and 14/16.

Re: Ardoch Crescent - Split from: Stevenston Point

[quote="Penny Tray"]Is this the same road? Yes, its the same road but viewed from the other end. Ardeer Church steeple is visible as is the bridge. I think the photos showing the Thistle Cottages (Dynamite Rd and Ardoch Cres) were probably taken from the bridge or embankments. Good to see ...

Re: SCHOOL 'HOUSES'

When Auchenharvie Academy opened in 1971, we had at least 4 houses named after parts of Stevenston and Saltcoats to reflect the catchment area. Houses were allocated on the basis of the initial letter of your surname. I remember being in Parkend (Green) not so confident about the other houses being ...

Re: SCHOOL 'HOUSES'

Sorry Little Plum, can't help with photos. I don't remember group photos being taken at either Ardeer or Stevenston High. The only school group photos I got were the ones recently posted for Auchenharvie.

Re: SCHOOL 'HOUSES'

I remember a 4th house at Ardeer Primary- Hunter and blue was the colour. I was in Lister but don't know how it was allocated, we didn't have a 'sorting hat'. I have a vague recollection that there was a winning house but not how it was decided. I remember the 'potted sports' day was part of it.

Re: Auchenharvie Academy - Pupils Photos

Another group photo, this time its the senior pupils at Auchenharvie Academy 1971-72. I have a note of all the names for this photo and the rugby team and will post the lists later.

Discovered this picture of the La Scala in a book featuring local postcards. No details of date.

Re: Ardoch Crescent - Split from: Stevenston Point

Whenever I heard references to Thistle Cottages, they seemed to be about the row on Dynamite Road and I never made the connection that the similar houses in Ardoch Crescent were included. This picture (if link works) shows that row opposite the building where the fruit shop and chippy were. https://...
