Both men, serving with the 5th Batallion Cameron HIghlanders, Second Lieutenant Hector McLean Lee, and Second Lieutenant Thomas Wright Cameron (son of Robert and Mary Hart Cameron, 36 Polworth Gardens, Edinburgh), are commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Pier and Face 15B, France.

Someone I know was working at the Turnberry Hotel when Pavarotti was staying there in 1992, prior to a performance in Glasgow, and had the privilege of hearing the great man rehearsing. To hear him at close-quarters, he said, was an experience never to be forgotten.
