I wonder if this is the same Billy Simmonds that my brother Peter Johnston knocked about with,I can only remember dark curly hair.I remember a photo of a few of them together my brother Peter probably has a copy of that.

Quite correct that Saltcoats didn't have a Co-op of its own; instead it was "colonised " by both Ardrossan and Stevenston Co-ops. Ardrossan had a range of shops around the corner of Green St and Vernon St; ladies, children's and general drapery; butcher's; menswear and shoes; and grocery....
