I seem to recall that the numbers were restricted to 600 - but that restiction only applied when they were actually loading at the dynamite quay.
Seems very odd that they decided it was ok to put 600 at risk - but not more than that !!

Seems we now have good news about Burns Cottage.
It has been reported in the Herald today that the NTS are to take over the running of all the facilities on the site.
This is great news indeed.

Not sure if he has anything against Kilwinning as such but a clue might be that he had a diary column in the Herald ( formerly the Glasgow Herald ) which comprised - and still does, in the main of contributions from readers and there was a period when he had a rich source of material from Kilwinning...
