Re: Old Bus Route the Villas to Parkhouse Garage

Phew it's awhile since I posted but bus routes are something of a speciality so here goes. The Shore road bus has had various names through the years the most enduring being Stevenston Pillar Box but it did also have Stevenston Lundholm Road and Stevenston Ardeer Villas as a destination dependant on...

Re: The Unknown Wedding

Ahh brilliant! I have quite a few pictures and it was definately the North Parish Church, you can see the houses in Dalry road in the background of some of the others. I did once do a superb video for somebody's wedding only for the marriage to last lass time than it took to get the film processed s...

The Unknown Wedding

I wonder if any forum members can help with this. Way back in 1973 I got a new camera and being but a youngster I asked the late Jack Boyd if I could shadow him at a wedding he was photographing. The wedding was at the North Parish Church some time in 1973 or 1974 and I took some black and white pho...

Re: Intimations 8 February 2017

Sorry to hear of the untimely death of Jeff Graham, former Westsound presenter, at a young age. I still think of him as a curly haired kid! And truly saddened by the death of Patsy Reid stalwart of St Brendan's and St Mary's church halls and the Women's Guild who has earned the right to make God his...

Re: How to show images on threetowners using Imgur

I did go and put an image on imjur but I don't seem to have been able to select the large thumnails option. Can a mod tell me if this has made the picture too large for file size limits? I'll delete it if it is.

Regards

Re: A1 Bus Routes

I should mention that while I was digging about for an image I did notice that in the late 50s early 1960s, the Shore Road bus left from the stance heading for Lundholm Road. It's just before my time so does anybody know what route it took then from the stance? In the 1980s some journeys diverted to...

Re: John L Stewart

If you look at my post on the photos thread sheena you can let me know if that is your dad. Pic taken early 1960s at stance. I'm still learning how this stuff all works.

Re: A1 Bus Routes

If you were in that bit of the scheme you sometimes had to think quick as both buses came at you from different directions!. The New England going up would only take you into the oblivion of Fleming Crescent so you'd wait for it to come down again (this time a Stevenston Hayocks) to take you down Ad...

Re: A1 Bus Routes

Ok to do it slightly back to front, as The Hayocks via Spingvale as the first the crew got to see, it left the stance along the High road into Dyksmains Road and along into Ross Road, bottom of Sannox Drive into Corrie Crescent, along to Cumbrae road, up Simpson Drive into Burns Avenue up to the end...

Re: A1 Bus Routes

I don't go back far enough to remember the reversing bit at Stevenston, but thanks to both of you for your contribution. The Hayocks via Springvale terminated at Hyslop road shops and the Stevenston Hayocks at Hillhead road (am I right in thinking that was the other angle of the shops?) which should...
