Re: Clip from saturdays record
I agree totally. Her default position is to girn incessantly. Under their watch Scotland's once proud legacy of education has been badly served. My home town of Stevenston has become a place where too many young people are without hope or prospects- hence we reap the alienationand behavioral consequ...

Re: British Open Golf/Gordon Cunningham/Ardrossan?
Hi Gowfer,
I too remember Gordon when he was pro at Ardeer in the 60's where I was a member. It was Barbados he came home from. I didn't know where he went to after then, so thanks for the updates.

CANMORE
This is the site of the Royal Commission of Ancient and Historical Monuments of Scotland. I have used it often, and if you have an interest in archaeology, and the history of Scotland in general, it will give you hours of browsing. It includes aerial views, and the Three Towns feature in a number of...

Re: Are Children Growing Taller
One theory that may make a bit of sense is the addition of growth hormones to meat products and crops over the past few decades. They didn'have these when most of us were young. They enter the food chain and hids grow taller. I don't have any scientific knowkledgeabout this however.

Arthur Anderson
Some people in 3 towns may have known Arthur. Originally from Kilwinning but lived in Stevenston, married to Betty Forde, Provost Jimmy Forde's daughter, and father of Helene and Janette. Married Moira Fleming when Betty passed away. Sadly, Wee Arthur .. died on Christmas morning aged 86. Arthur was...

Re: John Johnston
Johnny Johnston as he was known taught me maths in the Higher Grade. He was a very decent man. Iam sure he played centre half for Hearts before he became a teacher.

Re: Ardeer Quarry LNR Public Consultation
Why do they do these things? I don't understand. Why destroy their environment? Nihilists? We weren't perfect, but I don't remember such wanton destruction. Maybe 'my life is s--it, so I'll make all around me s--it as well '. I haven't been in Stevenston for almost 30 years. Then I was appalled at t...

Re: " A Saunter roon Stinstin"
Hi Chris, Thanks for this. It may well have been the 10th tee, what a loss the course was. Cheery was a good friend of mine, especially through the golf and he and Jim Wilson introducing me to the devil drink. I well remember the quarry too. We could roam for miles in those days. I recall a lot more...

Re: " A Saunter roon Stinstin"
It would be great if someone has photos of old ardeer golf club, where I played from 12 till 16 when the club moved to Greenhead. For some daft reason never took photographs of the course and clubhouse (Davie Crawford was the steward, and we Juniors were scared of him, but he was actually a lovely m...

ARDEER FACTORY AND NYLON PLANT CLOSURES
Hi, To help with my study on emigration, I am looking for information on the above topic. When did the plants close? Were there any substantial alternative employment opportunities in the 3T's? Does anyone know of people who emigrated as a consequence? Any help gratefully received. PS I remember in ...
