Re: Does anyone recognize the folks in these photos
Colin, all those girls were in my class at school, I remember your Mum, she was cleaver and sat at the back of the class. I was always stuck at the front where the teacher could keep an eye on the bad boys

Re: Does anyone recognize the folks in these photos
Colin,
In the bottom photo, starting bottom row. John Ramsay, David Baird, George Fleming
Middle row Myra Glugston, cant remember the girl next to Myra. But i am quite sure the girl above Myra is Grace Ramsay.
I notice your name is Baird, any relation to David in the bottom row.

Re: North Shore, Ardrossan
I to remember diving off big jumbo, but you had to make sure the tide was in far enough to have enough depth, otherwise it was easy to scrape your belly on the sand. I believe that lovely smell of the seaweed is a gas called, Dimethyl Sulphide, Its produced by seaweed and Phyto Plankton.{ The smell ...

Re: Cannon Hill - Goal Posts
your right Robert, you and I played at the same time we were probable in the same team, as we were all in the wee Glasgow street gang. But as far as I remember we had to put our jackets down as goal posts. No proper posts then, and there was some grass.

Re: Jerry's Pier, Ardrossan
I remember ships, tied up on the western side of jerry's pier, that's the opposite side from the lovely wee sandy beach, where we used to dig for rag worms to use as bait for the fishing. These boats would be {I assume} waiting for the tide to be right before the Coffer dam, {which also acted as a s...

Penny tray, That's brilliant. That confirms the research I have done and came to the conclusion that, the address of "The Ardrossan Rest" was indeed 37 Glasgow Street. It also confirms what my late Mother told me, that it was later called "Jock's Lodge" . I also found out that Ro...
