Re: New additional needs school - destruction of Auchenharvie playing fields

Not sure how clean the area is now, but the area I am thinking about is at the main entrance to the factory where there was a large parking space, where upwards of 20 double decker bus's used to park, also a railway platform where the workers disembarked form places all over Ayrshire. Inside the mai...

Re: New additional needs school - destruction of Auchenharvie playing fields

Why not build the New school, where Ardeer Factory used to be. I imagine there is enough room there for many more than one School. There would be no through traffic, it would also be healther with fresh sea breezes. A bus service could easely be provided at start and finish school times.

Re: S,S Midland stranded

Yes Penny tray, I was thinking of the breakwater which I will now call "the New one" I had no idea that there had been an earlier breakwater closer in shore. No sign of this breakwater when we were growing up. But of course a lot of that land was recovered when they built the "Shell Mex" so thanks f...

S,S Midland stranded

While reading through "This day in History" I came across an artical about the Ship S,S Midland which was stranded on the sands outside the Breakwater in Ardrossan Harbour, on or about the 21st march 1880. What I found strange was that the story said, "The ship was refloated with the help of the har...

Re: Ermo Marroni's chip shop

I remember the fish and Chip shop at the top of Glasgow street so well, Best chips in the three towns. One thing that sticks out in my mind , was the line of people waiting for their fish and chips. The delay was usually caused by Ermo heating up the large fryer, which was coal fired. His method of ...

Interesting to read that sentance about an icecream Van Parked on the 200 meter limit from the School.
I never heard of this rule before. Is this the Law now back there in the old country.

Re: Arran ferry

Tom
your camping in glen Rosa sounds so familiar, we done all of those things but we camped at Corrie so no bicycles for hire. And yes the wee "Mann burn" did burst its banks and washed us out. But that was back in the day's of Glen Sannox ii.

How many threetowners over 80years old

Hi Threetowners,
I just had my 80th birthday party last Saturday, the 27th may. It was a great success we all had a great time. But it did bring home to me that 80 is pretty old and I wondered if there are many more Threetowners 80 and over.
