Ann, I found a photo from 1975 showing the demolition of old houses in Montgomerie Street. I presume these were the original ones from the 1800s.

Today for the first time we had no new cases in the region I live in, and it's day 9 or 10 without a recorded death due to covid19. :D As of last week we have some new rules. All shops can open again, but there are certain rules still to be observed. Same for restaurants, pubs, fitness clubs etc. Da...

Hi Ann, This was a description of Montgomerie St. in 1855: ".....having one row of houses on the east side which are mostly occupied during the summer season by visitors to the coast." By 1867, according to Slater's, the residents were mainly gentry, a church minister, a school, and some businesses....
