Re: City of Adelaide 1864.
The CSCOAL website would appear to have been closed down and I have been told that the ship still doesn't have a permanent berth and any funding has dried up. Does anyone have any information as to what is actually happening with the ship?

Re: City of Adelaide 1864.
By all accounts, having been both chemically and heat treated before arriving in Australia and now baking in the dry heat down under, the fabric of the Adelaide is deteriorating at an increasingly alarming rate. Rest assured, pockets will have been lined and egos massaged; and remember that Fiona Hy...

Re: New Addiction Centre ( Stevenston)
Hi, caught up in it. I hope you eventually make it through your own personal nightmare and perhaps, hopefully, decide to make a difference to other people's lives. I wish you well and am happy to have a chat on here anytime if you like.

Re: Garden allotments in the three towns
When I was at St. John's, in the late 40's, there were allotments along the Caley railway at the end of Moorpark West, along what we used to call the back road to Saltcoats. Can't remember any others in Stevenston. I think there wasn't such a need for allotments then, as large gardens were common. ...

Re: Chatterbox - The Virtual Cafe
It's blowing a hoolie here in south Ayrshire; gale to storm force SW backing S wind. Snow would be nice (and more the norm) at this time of year I hope my little boat is still on her mooring when I check tomorrow.

Re: R.B.S.Refund Scheme
I am suspicious to say the least. However, please don't be overly concerned on account of my feeling of apprehension. Deal only with your local branch and please do not give any more personal details away by telephone or online to anyone. After you pop in to RBS and hopefully get things sorted out, ...

Re: local sea anglers
Hello Little Plum, Thank you. It was indeed Archie McAllister. Archie was a friend of the parents of my friend and at that time neighbour, Brian Burns (a native of Saltcoats). I don't remember Paisley Crane Hire, but the names Hugh McGimpsey and Theo Scaramangus ring a bell or three, although I'm ce...

Re: local sea anglers
Hello Little Plum. I had the Honda 70 that inspired Jim to buy a Honda 90! After buying it, he couldn't see past it. Great means of transport for a lone, roving angler. Like Jim, I also used to fish the slip and the rock marks - the aim was to put your bait in the deep gutter or gulley caused by wav...

Thank you Meg. My word, we three towners seem to crop up everywhere!
I should also like to say hello to Gillian who shares an interest in history.
This is a nice, welcoming forum.

Re: Just Joined? Please Introduce Yourself
Evening all,
I am a son of Ardrossan, but lived in Stevenston for 27 years prior to leaving in 1988 to set up home in Symington. I now live up country (and up hill) in the Doon Valley. If anyone wants to chat about sea angling, I'm yer man .

Me? I'm sitting here trying to perfect "George Brabazon's Second Air" on my moothie. A beautiful tune written in the 18th century by the blind Irish composer, Turlough O'Carolan. So, what are you doing now? Apart from replying to this topic. :puter Evening Hughie, I'm following the...
