Re: Stevenston Station

If you've sometimes had to wait for that length of time Witterquick, then I'd assume it's one of those 'occasional' freight trains, either in front of or just behind a commuter service train which have contributed to holding you up for so long. I would understand if that was the case, but there hav...

Re: PC support and help

I'm always happy to help out if anyone needs any assistance as well, got 15 years IT experience, albeit more towards servers and infrastructure, than home PCs :) !

As for trackpads, they're awful things. They can be replaced, but it's a pain - better off just getting a cheap USB mouse!

Re: Stevenston Station

Argh this infuriates me! I travel up from Stevenston daily, the number of times I've been caught on the way home (I live just near the shopsmart), waiting for 15/20 minutes... I timed it once, the barrier seems to come down about 2.30m/3m before the train arrives. There's no excuse for them to remai...

Re: Pop Ups

Elvis try using google chrome as your browser, and installing adblock https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/adblock/gighmmpiobklfepjocnamgkkbiglidom?hl=en It's excellent, I never get popups. ever. Even browsing facebook, newspaper sites etc - very few banner ads or anything. if you think the pro...

Re: Adverts

I would also recommend Adblock - it's a plugin which stops these popups/flash adverts appearing. I use it with Chrome and never have a prob. If you need help installing it, drop me a pm

Re: Broadband services

BT Infinity has been rolled out to the majority of the three towns (frustratingly enough, not to cabinet 5 which serves my local area!). I don't think virgin have rolled out to the area yet though

Re: Young Women...

Agreed. Whilst waiting outside one of the charity shops on Dockhead St last weekend while my missus was browsing, I saw two lassies, maybe in their early twenties, swaggering down the street wearing some really grim onesies. What's happened to people's self respect these days, has it all just evapor...

Re: wasps

Iain I'll keep an eye (well, ear too) out and if I can, will try catch one. There's a bunch of scrubland with a small stream near where I live so I guess they might be laying eggs around that stream

Re: wasps

Funny that you mention mosquitoes - I'm pretty sure I found one in my house (mid-tooner in Stevenston) last week - mentioned this to my brother in law who lives up the top end of Saltcoats and he said that he thought he was imagining it but he thought he heard one up his way. Wonder if it's just the...

Re: Changes in Scottish society

I know what you mean, I've recently started jogging again around the ardeer beach/park/quarry, in 3 weeks I've probably seen 3/4 joggers and 2/3 cyclists :| We're blessed with an excellent environment for outdoor pursuits, just seems a shame that so many people don't take advantage of them :|
