Largs Ferry in the 1970/80s

In the last 70s to mid 80s there used to be a small calmac ferry anchored between the pier and lifeboat station. It was the one that only had one ramp and nearly always was moored just offland and was occasionally used as a spare for the cumbrae service. what was the ferry called? why was it always ...

Hunterston Port

Why is the former BSC Ore Terminal, now Clydeport called Hunterston when it is actually located in Fairlie, and on Southanan land and Not Hunterston Land.

Why call it Hunterston, why not Fairlie or Southanan?

The only stuff thats on Hunterston land is the oilrig yard and the power stations.

What is this feature at Hunterston?

Its bugged me for many years but what is this structure used for at Hunterston?
is it something to do with the old A Station or is it part of B station?
what is it used for?
when was it built?

it looks like a mini oilrig :-)
