My uncle stirrat and my mum were brought up in beggs terrace. My mum still stays in the same house. Tommy Blackwood was their cousin.

There's a photo with Stirrat in it in this Topic
There was also a Tommy Blackwood and sister? Isabel Blackwood at that time (1950s) in Beggs Terrace, don't know if they were related to Stirrat or even to each other.

Hi

I was on Facebook page memories of ardrossan and found the photo of coronation party at beggs terrace which a lot of my family were in...this led me to this page

My mum is a Blackwood and My uncle is Stirrat. So weird seeing people talk about our family which is a big family with many different surnames 🤣

Hi Hammy ,Not that i know of,but my Grandfather came from Newtownards.I know there are Gordons in Newtownards, marrying into Boals as my side did  This may be where the Gordons in Co.Down started

Rev. James GORDON . Comber arrived from Scotland in 1645 with Scots Army & minister at 1st Comber Presbyterian Church ; deposed for nonconformity in 1661; plotted against English king & imprisioned in 1663 taken from the "Rosdavis" site.

I do have a contact with someone connected with my Irish side ,and my 3t's side. :D
My Irish side
STEVENSON family . came over from Ayrshire, Scotland with James Hamilton as part of the Ulster plantation in 1607

Hello Caroline,

Havent a clue where in Ireland they came from.
Researching my family tree i was astonished they were Irish as Gordon is such a Scottish name.
What i know is my GG/Grandfather Michael Gordon was married to Mary Bone both born in Ireland,Sarahs parents were John Bone and Sarah Mearns.
I never found Michael Gordon's death certificate,so i know no more about them.
If you have any information i'd love to hear it ,surely your not related to the Gordon's as well
