I see that Ailsa house is just 2 doors down from South Beach House care home, which is the closest thing I could find to what my mum was describing. I came pretty close😃

I think it was called "Ailsa House" and it was situated at 5 South Crescent Road, Ardrossan, and it was occupied by a Pennington Family.

Campsite/guest house

Hi,
I'm helping my mum write up her life story.
She's always told me about a guest house/holiday let we lived in for a while when I was a baby in 1970. She says it was in Saltcoats and Ardrossan. It was run by a lady called Mrs Pennington, it had steps to the front door and pillars and looked like a grand house from outside.
Does anyone know where it was, it apparently overlooked the sea, and mum thought the house was called Ailsa Craig.

Also, after leaving Mrs Pennington's guest house we apparently lived on a camp site 3 miles out of Kilwinning where a row of houses bordered the field that the mobile shop would visit. Again, any ideas where this might have been?

Thank you
