Golden wedding : Wilkie - Bone

We've seen this picture before, for Mr James Wilkie whose golden wedding in April 1973 is commemorated here was of the Wilkie's grocery family and I included it in the Saltcoats Stroll.

Golden wedding Wilkie - Bone.jpg

Mr and Mrs James Wilkie, Aldmuir, Argyle Road, Saltcoats, celebrated their golden wedding on Thursday of last week at a gathering of relatives and friends in the Eglinton Arms Hotel, Ardrossan.

Mr Wilkie, who served with the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders in the Great War, was well-known as the senior partner in the family grocery business founded by his father, the late RC Wilkie. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Ardrossan and Saltcoats.

Mrs Jean Wilkie is the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs D R Bone who owned the Border and New England farms, and it was in the Border that the couple were married in April 1923 by the late Rev D D Rees.

They have three married sons and six grandchildren.

Interesting to hear that there was a third Wilkie brother apart from Lindsay and Couper; does anyone know anything about him ?

Susan
