It shows, for example, the death of a THOMAS HUNTER, at Dockhead Street, Saltcoats (in the Parish of Ardrossan) in the issue of 2 May 1857.

I am trying to trace back on the Hunter line.

Thomas Hunter born 1881 Ardrossan shipwright who went to Australia late 1890's/early 1900's died 1939 Victoria, Australia

Thomas Hunter born 1846 Newton on Ayr married 1771 Ardrossan to Mary Ann Crawford died 1927 Ardrossan

Thomas Hunter possibly born 1798 St Quivox married 1822 Newton on Ayr to Jean Dempster
possibly died 1858 Ardrossan. (However this Thomas is listed as a Sheriffs Officer but his sons MC & DC had his fathers occupation as being a Cotton Hand Loom Weaver and can't find another Thomas with a relevant death date)
Jean or Jane Hunter death in Ardrossan 1868 had widow of Thomas Hunter Sheriff and showed the correct maiden name of Dempster.

Any descendants on here as I know the last Thomas had brothers and sisters still in Ardrossan and possibly Glasgow.
