I see you're a first time poster and have no idea therefore of what you know, what you don't know, or whether you live locally.
I note however, that the following Ardrossan & Saltcoats Herald BDM database includes the family intimation of your grandparent's marriage in the 16 January 1942 edition.
There is also the intimation of the birth of a girl in the 25 December 1942 edition, the father being an Alexander Fullarton. Could this be your mum's arrival?

I also note from the 1937 North Ayrshire Directory that there was an
ANNIE McGHIE, Confectioner, at 77 New Street, Stevenston. Did your grandmother or great-grandmother have a 'sweetie shop'?
Can we take it too, that your grandfather was president of ARDEER Bowling Club as opposed to ARDEN, which is in Glasgow?
