Thanks michaelm, for posting pictures, Thats impressive. Do you think the coal miners used to live on those streets that surround that farm. Hughs son David left for America around 1850 and ended up in Decatur Illinois where us whites still live to this day . Thanks again

Aye Hughie, I should have known when I read Rwhite's post that there would be some sort of family connection. A wee bit more initial info would have made it a bit clearer at the start though. :)

It's fairly clear now that the Farm/B&B that's currently known as 'Ardeer Mains' was many years ago known as 'Little Dubbs' and is situated in 'Dubbs Road' where chriso's google map shows.
As far as I'm aware there's never been a 'Little Dubbs Road' in Stevenston and I think that's where the slight confusion arose from here.

Rwhite, here's a pic or two of 'Ardeer Mains' taken today (Monday)

A couple of side-on views on the approach along Dubbs Road.

This is the only Dubbd road that I know of. Gallachers farm is located there and the proper name for it is Ardeer Mains. It is now a 4 star B&B. Click on the link for ardeer mains farm and drag and drop the wee man on to the road at the farm.

Could it be Main Street, Stevenston? See This topic Haven't heard of Main Street Ardeer. Main Street Stevenston is more or less Stevenston Cross.

I can't seem to find an Ardeer Main Street but I'll do more looking, you've been very helpful, thank you. don't suppose you can help me find out who his father was. I believe his father was a david white but it gets confusing looking

As you can see by the search results image below, taken from the Landsborough Lists. Dubbs or Little Dubbs seems to have been a small community. Your Hugh White is in all three lists.

Michael, Nothing unusual in this type of question when researching family.

Welcome, Rwhite. From this post by member George Weir:
Apparently, Little Dubbs, was renamed 'Ardeer Mains'

Rwhite - not quite sure what your post here has to do with 'Family Research' ?
And which 'Little Dubbs Road' are you referring to ?
