Francie,

I don't know for sure, but anyone born of 17 October 1905 would be 33 at the time of the fatal accident, which fits in with the headstone arithmetic of Gilbert Brown, viz - "killed on 28th September 1939, aged 33."

Aye, right!

Morag,

I was actually sitting in my car ready to go when the headstone caught my eye. I then had to recite GILBERT BROWN about ten times before it clicked how I knew the name. The Auld Yin, who was with me, thought I had taken a wee turn. I then got a row for blaspheming in exclamation when I realised the connection .

Jocelyn,

I visited family plots at Ardrossan Cemetery today and then went to look at some of the 'HMS Dasher' graves nearby. As I was turning away from the latter these photo opportunities caught my eye. I could hardly believe it.
