Hi Christina, welcome! The post that started this topic was copied from when we were a mailing list back in 2000, haven't heard from Irene for many years.

Hugh Gilmour the blind musician is mentioned in a couple of topics here on threetowners. This topic by Downsouth (Susan) is one you should find interesting: viewtopic.php?p=107051#p107051

Hello Irene. Are you still looking at this family information? I am also descended from Robert Gilmour and am particularly interested in his Father, Hugh Gilmour aka 'Blind Gilmour' who was a musician. If you have any information about him I would be grateful. Christina (Gilmour).

Hi

I found this post about Robert Gilmour. I believe he is also my Great Great Grandfather. I would love to be in contact with people who are interested in this line of the family. My family line comes from:

Robert Gilmour
Hugh Gilmour (b. 1824 - moved to Australia in 1849 with Mary McGowan)
William Hugh Gilmour (b.1868)
William Hugh Gilmour (b. 1899)
John Gilmour (b. 1938)
Miriam Gilmour (that's me)

I have a few photos and certificates etc and would love to hear from others too.

Edited out e-mail address - Hi Miriam. It's preferred you don't post your ISP e-mail address here. Why not register so you can make contact with others - or just reply through this part of the forum.
Oops I see you joined I'll link this to your username.

Anne, What are you doing posting as a guest? Login and post, there are no hoops to jump through when you're logged in.

We have to make it just a wee bit difficult for guests posting, otherwise we get inundated with spam bots. (computers posting spam). I'll see if I can tweak it a wee bit.

There is a David Mclelland on your list (My Dad's name) hopefully it wasn't him , under Campbells Land New Steeet but he wasn't born until 1915 and that was Mount Pleasant , or as Bernard Walsh said at one time 'Doo Hill'

This is very interesting, You grandfather must have owned half of Stevenston. There are second names on the list that still live in Stevenston, but whether they are related to anyone on your list is another thing. a lot of the buildings are still standing to this day.

Hi Jean,

The Irene Stirling who posted that was born and raised in Australia from what I understand.
Could you post in "lower case" please, Jean. Posting all in UPPER CASE is looked upon as shouting.
Hope you have results with your other posts. :)
